My Lundberg, Sustainability & IR Manager at Sdiptech answers three questions.
2022-12-14
1.Hi My, in what way is sustainability an important issue for you at Sdiptech?
In all ways. Sdiptech acquires and develops market-leading niche companies with products and services that contribute to more sustainable, efficient and safe societies. Our investment philosophy is that companies with a sustainable business model and few sustainability risks have better conditions for long-term profitability and growth. Sustainability is thus embedded in our core business and is a fundamental part of the pursuit of better business performance. All companies we acquire must contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which means that the more societies are transformed towards greater sustainability, the higher the demand for our products.
2. You have recently conducted an educational effort together with Sustademy, what effect do you want to achieve with it?
Sdiptech is a technology group with about 40 operating businesses, all of which have different knowledge, focus and both contributions and impact on the environment and society. We want to be an owner and partner that creates added value for our companies. Contributing knowledge is a way for us to increase our value creation.
It is important that everyone in the Group has good knowledge of the various topics that fall under the broad concept of sustainability. This is important both from a business perspective, but also to build credibility with our various stakeholders. The overall goal of Sustademy's sustainability training is to create a common and increased knowledge so that we can make even more long-term sustainable decisions.
3.What is the focus for you at Sdiptech in the area of sustainability in the near future and why?
We are now entering the reporting times of our group-wide ESG data, with all that it means. It is an area that is growing every year. In the spring of 2023, much will continue to focus on the taxonomy regulation and the expanded reporting that enters into force for the year, but also preparations and work on what is required for 2024 when goals 3-6 must also be reported.
At the same time as climate-related issues are increasingly cemented, we will see more focus on social sustainability issues, such as the EU's legislative proposal on corporate responsibility for human rights - Human rights due diligence (HRDD). In connection with this, we will work hard to develop our annual supplier mapping to increase our knowledge and ability to influence both our Scope 3 and our suppliers' social impact.
Finally, we will continue to prioritize the development and training of our companies on how they can further reduce their footprint in accordance with our goals - to halve carbon intensity by 2026, and to have a gender balance in leadership positions by 2030.
