1. Hi Henriette, in what way is sustainability an important issue for a pet insurance company?
Hi! First of all, I think sustainability is an extremely important issue regardless of the industry. The animal insurance industry is no exception and for us at Agria it is important that sustainability permeates all aspects of our business. We have a strong focus on the climate and emissions from our own operations and on the well-being of our employees, but above all it is important for us to promote and facilitate sustainable animal ownership. This is what we specialise in and we are confident that it is also the area where we can make the biggest difference.
We do this through our products, but also through added value and injury prevention activities such as the Agria Care Guide, the Agria Research Fund, the Puppy School, Safe Horse Farm and injury prevention articles and social media features, to name but a few.
In addition to this, we are of course also affected by the EU Sustainable Financial Markets Action Plan - including the EU Green Taxonomy, changes in Solvency II and IDD, which means some changes in our ESG work and how we report.
2. You at Agria are good at continuously raising the skills of your employees in relation to your products and services. But what kind of knowledge about sustainability is important to have if you work at your company?
Mywish is that all our employees have a basic knowledge of what sustainability means - both specifically for Agria, but also for society in general. If you work at Agria, you have to love and have knowledge of animals, but also of the insurance and financial industry in which we operate. Therefore, it is important to have an understanding of the sustainability regulations that affect us and the various initiatives that we are committed to working to, such as the UN's PSI and Global Compact to name a few, but also the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
3. What is the focus for Agria in the area of sustainability in the near future and why?
Ourfocus in the near future is to work actively together with our parent company Länsförsäkringar towards our common goal of becoming climate positive by 2045. We are currently working on getting an overview of our direct and indirect emissions from several parts of our business and finding methods and tools to measure, monitor and reduce our climate impact. We are also actively working to make clear to our customers and stakeholders what sustainability means to Agria.
