1. What is your focus in the area of sustainability in the near future and why?

Our focus right now is to map and calculate emissions at both operational and product level. This is important for us to be able to make sustainable decisions and to follow our development over time. However, being able to present accurate data is at least as important for our customers, as they need to get the right information to make sustainable decisions themselves.

2. What knowledge about sustainability is important to have if you work with you?

Knowledge is very important and we believe above all in the common knowledge where everyone in the company understands and is involved in the transition. But even more important is the drive and willingness to change, improve and learn.

3 . What does circular economy mean to you?

Circular systems can be defined in several ways and at different levels. In its simplest form, it means that the raw material is reused or recycled in one way or another instead of becoming waste. Using this definition as a starting point, the majority of our business could already be classified as circular as our products can almost always be recycled in the final stage.

When we at aPak talk about circular systems, however, the definition is considerably more comprehensive as we believe that only a closed or well-defined system, where the raw material remains in a controlled flow, can be considered a fully circular system.

The Swedish deposit system is such an example. In a controlled flow, the PET plastic is refined into packaging that is consumed and returned to be recycled and refined again. Achieving this kind of circular system is a very complex process that we will be working a lot on in the coming years. We have several projects underway where we are working with producers, recyclers and customers to tailor solutions that are fully circular. We believe that this type of circular solution is the future and we want to help make that visiona reality.
